Local WordPress installation asks for FTP connection information

Having installed WordPress 4.5.3 on my local Server, I want to install some plugins. But when I try to (de)install a plugin, WordPress asks for FTP connection information. I don't know, what to do...

I'm running Debian Jessie and I am not using XAMPP. Apache and MySQL are working fine and I have full permissions to the wordpress folder, so I have no idea, what the problem is. Besides, I didn't have that problem with my previous WP installation.

When I append

define('FS_METHOD','direct');
to wp-config.php, it doesn't ask anymore but it complains, that the directory could not be created.

Could you please help me, I don't want to install plugins manually?!

Answer

chown www-data:www-data /var/www/* -R has solved the problem.
