CSS Question

alignment and 'right-pull'

Somehow the button on the right is not centered (vertically) anymore when

is used.
How can it be placed in the middle?

<li >
<a type="button" class="btn btn-default btn-sm ">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-minus" ></span>

<a type="button" class="btn btn-default btn-sm pull-right">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-pencil" ></span>
