Sass (Sass) Question

Susy Grid Issue with spanning 6 items

I am having some issues spanning my 12 items across 2 rows of 6.

I am having issues with the "artist" section. I'm not sure if I should be using the gallery mixin for this or just use spans like I am for my other sections.

Answer

The problem currently is that :last-child selects the last element in a container (artist #12), not the last elements in a row (#6 & #12). Last-child is determined by the DOM tree, not the layout.

The gallery mixin will work great here. It also uses DOM-based nth- selectors, but applies them more directly. Since you have an h1 heading in the container along with all your artists, you'll have to turn on the nth-of-type option:

.artist {
    // each item spans 2 columns
    // items are targeted by sibling-position (nth) and type (div)
    @include gallery (2, of-type);
    height:10rem;
    background:pink;
}
