C# Question

Problems with Connection String in jsp Java?

I am trying to convert a code that has been written in C# to Java. I am having trouble connecting to the remote SQL server. Please can anyone tell me where I made the error.

C# connection string for database

connectionString="Data Source=SAP\SQL2012;Initial Catalog=test;User ID=abc;password=password" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"

Java connection string

conn= DriverManager.getConnection`("jdbc:sqlserver://SAP/SQL2012;user=abc;password=password;database=test");

Error logs
Severe: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host SAP/SQL2012, port 1433 has failed. Error: "null. Verify the connection properties. Make sure that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port. Make sure that TCP connections to the port are not blocked by a firewall.".

Answer

You need to change your connection string slightly to:

DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:sqlserver://SAP\\SQL2012;user=abc;password=password;database=test");

Have a look at the documentation as well:

jdbc:sqlserver://[serverName[\instanceName][:portNumber]][;property=value[;property=value]]
